Post Leeds, Denilson and Vermaelen

Another committed and focussed display from the young guns made sure that we progress into the fourth round of FA Cup. That is the way to approach every game, but the problem is consistency.

Every player, and every fan, and the manager knows what it takes to win games, but the team after one or two convincing victories, plays like shite and bloody loses to teams you can't even imagine for us to lose to. And that's a fact!

The game against Leeds was another of those incredible performance by this Arsenal team. We opened the scoring with a superb finish from the man in form, Samir Nasri. We should have made atleast two another goals but Arshavin and Bendtner missed two simple chances. Then our right back, hard working Bacary Sagna fired in a bullet which bounced off the keepers gloves and into the net. His thoroughly deserved second goal of the season. Then some guy called Johnson scored for them with a fantastic strike about 30 yards out, and the commentators truly said that, that ball was going in to the back of the net even if Arsenal had three keepers in the post. At 2-1, you could sense the danger and glimpses of the Spurs game came into my mind. Leeds started the second half very positively and looked dangerous. Cesc and RVP came on for Arshavin and Chamakh and that really did make a hell lot of difference. Bendtner was played to the right by Cesc and he found himself in acres of space and made a radar controlled cross to find RVP who headed home to make it 3 - 1. At the back, Djourou and Koscielny together with the return of Sagna and young Gibbs looked solid. Great game indeed. For game highlights click here

Only Bendtner seemed to work hard in this game and earn his place in the first team. Arshavin is petty struggling at the moment. He seems to have lost all his confidence as a player. The only way to return to form is to work hard. If there are other issues that the fans are not aware of, the manager needs to find out the same and sort it out as quickly as possible. Because he is such a talented player to be out of form for such a long time. The team needs him.

Next up for us in the FA Cup is Huddersfield Town on Sunday, Jan 30. Before that comes the Ipswich game on Tuesday and the next league game is Wigan at home tomorrow. Hope we can play with the same spirit and focus on all of the remaining games this season.

Now coming to the Denilson interview which was first published on arseblog.com  and created by Arsenal Brasil, but apparently contents stolen by a third party and sold to Sun and other networks. It was truly disappointing from Sun and other networks to buy contents like these and publish it as their own. But cheers to arseblog and Arsenal Brasil for creating such an interview. In the interview he talks about his arrival at Arsenal, his performance and the lack of any leaders in the current squad. He goes on to say that even Cesc is not a leader and that we need someone like Viera or Campbell to step up into the leader's shoes. Now that's the controversy lads. He must not have said those words, I think. Like Arsene said last week about Twitter - ''think before you tweet'' he must have thought before saying things like that particularly when Cesc is being targetted for a move to Barca. Those comments spread like wild fire, and now the boss has to do the damage control.

Speaking of Barca, I was very pleased to know that Real Betis has defeated the Catalan giants by three goals to one, and Messi missed a penalty, he is human after all. I reckon we could learn from that game and take notes or something before we face them in the Champions League next month.

Vermaelen has undergone a simple surgery, in which his plantaris tendon was removed. The surgery was done at Sweden, because the Arsenal medical team recommended that the specialists for that kind of surgery are in Sweden. Arsene reckons, a time frame of six weeks plus or minus a few weeks for his return if everything goes well. I think, its going to be six weeks '+'

We cannot count on Vermaelen's return date and need to buy an experienced and expensive centerback before the Jan transfer window closes, and that happens in about 12 days from now. May be its because Arsene is looking for such a player that he has not signed anyone yet. And may be he won't sign anyone at all. That according to me is foolishness. We are currently competing in four competitions and it would be utter foolishness to miss out on any of these competetions simply because the squad is not deep enough. He has to makse use of this oppurtunity and sign at least one good CB. We cannot make young Ignasi to step up into the first team at such a crucial stage of the season and play like a Vermaelen.

More news and reviews in the days to come, fingers crossed for a good win tomorrow.

See ya
